Palau Worlds Most Beautiful Tropical Paradise

Palau, is an island nation in the Pacific Ocean, some 500 miles east of the Philippines.

Most visitors to Palau arrive on Continental Micronesia, by way of daily regular flights from Guam. There are daily connections to Guam from Tokyo, USA and other metropolitan centres. Two weekly flights from Manila and two charter flights from Taipei, currently connect Palau with other metropolitan Asian cities

Palau offers you the worlds most beautiful tropical paradise. Famous for its diving, Palau is rated as one of the worlds best diving destinations by scuba aficionados. Palau has unspoiled reefs, caves and walls with the most amazing Array of marine life you can ever imagine.

Palau beckons to you with some of the worlds most awesome natural wonders. Imagine the whitest beaches you will ever see, gardens of coral just beneath the clearest waters, lakes filled to the brim with sting less jellyfish. Forests, waterfalls and caves that have never been ravaged by man and hundreds of islands of the purest beauty abound all along our pristine archipelago.

Palau enjoys a pleasantly warm climate all year round with an annual mean temperature of 82 degrees. Rainfall can occur throughout the year, and the annual average is 150 inches. The average relative humidity is 82 percent and although rain falls more frequently between July and October, there is still much sunshine. Typhoons are rare as Palau is located outside the typhoon zone.

Palau is a country rich in tradition and culture.

Palau offers the traveller a wide variety of hotel accommodations, from full service, luxury resorts and moderately priced bungalows, to economical motels and bungalows modelled on traditional architectural styles.

While many of Palaus guests prefer to stay in the town of Koror, where most resorts and motels are located, some prefer the more private and secluded bungalows of the northern and southern islands.

Whether price, comfort, or lifestyles are your considerations, Palaus natural beauty ensures a pleasant experience and memorable stay.

While much of Palaus natural environment remains free of environmental degradation, there are several areas of concern, including illegal fishing with the use of dynamite, inadequate facilities for disposal of solid waste in Koror, and extensive sand and coral dredging in the Palau lagoon.

Like the other Pacific island nations, a major environmental threat is global warming and the related rising of sea level.

Water coverage of low lying areas is a threat to coastal vegetation, agriculture, and the purity of the nations water supply. It also has a problem with inadequate water supply and limited agricultural areas to support the size of the population.

The nation is also vulnerable to earthquakes, volcanic activity, and tropical storms. Sewage treatment is a problem, along with the handling of toxic waste from fertilizers and biocides.

The Meaning of Luxury in Thailand Hotels

The Marble Triangle-Three sides to luxury as defined:

1. Something that is an extravagance rather than a necessity.

Book into a five star hotel in Thailand where they know the meaning of service compared with most of the rest of the world and soon you will discover the first definition noted above.  If we are looking for luxury, then all extravagance is a necessity. From waiters and hotel staff that appear at remarkable speeds to serve you, to their first class handling of your requests. These are not just employees from a country that is already naturally customer-service orientated, but they are staff that have been especially selected then trained, re-trained and upgraded. That is without the added skills of local knowledge, bi- or tri-lingual language communication, or even knowledge of wines and foods which are all necessary a five star luxury hotel experience.

2. Lavishness: the quality possessed by something that is markedly expensive.

When you take the décor and interior of a five star luxury hotel, you will hopefully note that no expense has been spared on its decorative interior. From its carved wooden interior to its marble flooring, not to mention its gold, platinum and silver fittings revealing an exquisite meticulousness in its design. If you notice any flaws; it means that the hotel is not adhering to the above definition. When a guest notices nothing, it usually means that the hotel is up to standard in this respect.

3. Wealth as evidenced by opulent living.

Wine and dine at a five star luxury hotel and you should find that your hosts have unlimited knowledge on wines, cheeses, desserts and foods, from fish of the day for sushi, and sashimi to knowledge of preparing a Louis XIII Cognac. They should know when these should be served, how and what with. Without knowledge of the intricacies of international cuisine a hotel cannot stand up in the class as defined by the above definition.

These are the three sides to luxury, joining them into a triangle, which melds these keys to create a hotel of super-standard.

Thailand boasts some of the best hotels in the world, from Bangkok to Chiang Mai to other southern resorts. They boast opulence and lavishness in a superior way. One such hotel chain is the celebrated Dusit Thani Hotels and Resorts which strive for the very best in everything. Bangkok alone has seven Dusit hotels which include Bel-Aire Princess Sukhumvit and Royal Princess Larn Luang, other locations throughout Thailand include Koh Chang, Korat and Phuket to name but a few.  Then this year 2009 and the following year, international sites such as in the UAE and Egypt will join with its other successful international locations in Dubai, the Philippines to open more luxury resorts and hotels.  If you are looking for luxury in Thailand check the website, www.dusit.com, and see what they have to offer.  Whether it is business or pleasure a luxurious destination Dusit package at Dusit International has lots to offer plus more.

Now when it comes to high end quality hotel accommodation it doesn’t come much better than the incredible 5 star hotels that are smattered across the world’s most inspiring hot spots. Or does it? There is a new drive for hotels that exceed the incredibly opulent 5 star hotels and aim to achieve higher rankings.

These ambitious hotels are achieving 6 stars and some of these pleasure domes have even dubbed themselves 7 stars. So where should you go if money isn’t an issue and you want to find the most luxurious hotel in the world? There are a handful of these extraordinary hotels dotted around the world. Here is a selection of a few of my favourites.

Burj Al Arab

Arguably the most famous of all hotels in the world the burj al arab refers to itself as a 7 star hotel and as a result is the only 7 star hotel in the world that is currently operational. There are a number of other 7 star hotels that are currently under construction in the world. The morgan plaza in Beijing is set to be completed in time for the Olympics whilst in Iranian kish developers are working on the Flower of the East which is an enormous complex that is fashioned to look like its namesake; a flower.

There are also 7 star hotels on the way in Pakistan and in the Philippines. Nevertheless the Burj Al Arab is currently the most opulent of all hotels. Constructed to look like a ships sail the 202 luxury suites represent the finest in the world renowned levels of Arab exquisite hospitality. Famous for having a roof top tennis court this hotel provides everything man could ever want or desire in its 321 metre tall building. The hotel aims to make the experience unique for each of its visitors and has an unbelievable team of butlers that will look after every aspect of your stay.

The Bora Bora Lagoon Resort and Spa

This beautiful hotel is located on a private island a short distance from the main island of Bora Bora. Situated in a secluded enclave the accommodation pods are built to a traditional Tahitian architectural style and offer sumptuous sleeping space. There are no roads or direct access to this hotel with access instead available through a regular boat service. The hotel has direct access to spectacular reef and has served directly by a number of pristine secluded beaches. From these stunning settings it is possible to get involved in a number of incredible activities including diving and shark feeding. The resort is also the perfect venue for a simple day relaxing and if you want to do nothing at all there is nowhere finer to do it.

Sunset cruises on the lagoon offer a wonderful conclusion to any day in this paradise resort. As would be expected the finish of the rooms is incredible. Each room provides everything that is expected of high end quality. They have air conditioning, satellite television, polished wood floors and idd telephone connectivity. There is also a sliding glass top coffee table through which guests can watch and feed the tropical fish in the lagoon.

Hotel And Restaurant Management Careers For Service Members

Seeing in world is one of the unique benefits members of the U.S. Armed Forces enjoy. How many of their friends and neighbors back come can say they’ve been to countries like the Philippines, Japan, Bosnia or Afghanistan – not many!

And so when it comes time for military personnel to leave the service, it is not without some regret as they contemplate whether they’ll ever be able to live and work in a foreign country again.

One education path that may be able to provide career opportunities for living in an exotic location is hotel and restaurant management. And while there are obviously hotels and restaurants in ordinary places like your home town, there are certainly many more in states, cities and countries that are beautiful and attract tourists.

If the idea of working in the tourist centers of Florida or aboard a cruise ship appeals to you, perhaps taking a look at the career path of hotel and restaurant management might be right for you.

So what exactly is hotel and restaurant management anyway? This is an education program that trains you to be the person who manages a staff and provides services for the customers of restaurants, hotels and cruise ships, for example. Next time you walk through a hotel lobby, think about all the people and jobs that must be done correctly to make a hotel run correctly -it’s often the graduates of hotel and restaurant management programs who manage this process.

So what kind of jobs can I get with this training? People with training in hotel and restaurant management may be hired as a front office manager, lodging manager, convention services manager or general manager.

Graduates can work in all segments of the hospitality industry, including resorts, airlines and even cruise ships. Just think about it: when you take a cruise, dozens and dozens of people are responsible for feeding you, lodging you and making sure that you have the perfect vacation. Why not travel and get paid for it!

Service members should know that they can use their Military Tuition Assistance benefits to train for a hospitality career – they can even train 100% online with distance education. There are a number of hotel and restaurant management career training programs that offer online courses. And while some universities offer a degree program in this discipline, there are also vocational career training schools where you can finish the program and graduate with a certificate.

The program is a particularly great match for those service members whose MOS involves lodging, feeding and caring for the logistical needs of their fellow service members. Although the chow line is not the same as the buffet line at a Las Vegas hotel, service members can surely build on their military skills to map out a satisfying career in the hospitality industry.

Philippines is a nice distinctive place to visit. With its tropical weather and excellent varieties of beaches and resorts, anyone would easily fall in love with this wonderful country located in the south eastern part of Asia.

My experience of stay in the Philippines makes me want to plan an immediate return for another vacation. If you are thinking of traveling to the Philippines, you should definitely be a little familiar with its main city capital called Manila. This is where you will most likely plan your flight arrival destination to end up at.

Finding cheap flights to Manila is not that easy, you need to do researching as well as planning ahead of time. Flights to other local airport destinations may not be cheaper since manila is the main capital of the country. So, almost all international flights are routed thru the city’s Ninoy International Airport, thus, more scheduled flights and much lesser expenses for airline companies.

However, Cebu Mactan International Airport has been gaining international flights already. At the time of this writing, they have 6 regular direct international flights. Taipei is the most recently added trip to their list of scheduled flights, and is scheduled for at least twice a week. It maybe a little expensive compared to a Manila flight, but if you intend to go anywhere near Cebu area like Bohol or somewhere around the Visayas region, then it would be a fairly good option to take advantage at. Another international Airport would be in Davao which has 3 international daily scheduled flights, to Singapore, to Koror Palau, and to Manado Indonesia.

Airfares are usually the most expensive part of a vacation trip, next to it would be hotel accommodations, this is why most of those who plan to visit the Philippines would surely want to go after those cheap flights to Manila. Nevertheless, once you arrive in the country, most of the things you will find there have adequately cheap prices, like food, transportation, souvenir items, clothing stuffs, and other accessories you may want to buy, way much cheaper compared to buying the same things from other countries.

Further more tips in finding cheap flights to Manila would be:

• Asking for quotations from travel agencies.

• Surfing the internet to compare and get the best rates out there.

• If you are from USA, then there are lots of Filipino agents selling cheap airfares to Manila, do try asking for them around your neighborhood.

• Planning ahead on specific dates will give you bigger savings.

• Most airlines offer huge discounts if booked earlier, but you must be sure about the schedule of your flight, otherwise you may end up getting charged for more should you request to cancel or change your flight schedule later on.

• Some companies give discounts if you pay them via credit card, you should take advantage of such offer.

• Other companies even accept travel mileage points to cover for your airfare

Asia Travel Guide

While Europe will always be a popular tourist destination as well as the beaches of Hawaii and Australia, why not try out Asia travel the next time you plan a vacation?

Take for example, the country of China, which has always been one of the places that easily come to mind when you think of Asia travel. Must-sees while you’re in China are the Forbidden City, Terracotta Warriors, Great Wall of China, Tiannamen Square, however, these are all just from the Northern part of China, there’s still so much to see in the other parts of this huge country, like the futuristic city of Shanghai and the cuddly pandas that abound in the city of Cheng and the wholesale markets in Guangdong where a lot of the fashion accessories that you see in malls may have come from. Visiting China may be fairly cheap – but it does depend on which city you go to, small cities like Dongguan may have a low cost of living as opposed to the bustling city of Shanghai, which is very similar to the very cosmopolitan city of Hong Kong.

Of course, engaging in some Asia travel practically requires you to immerse yourself with the local culture. One great example is China’s local food culture, which is definitely a lot different from what people are used to in Chinese restaurants abroad. Some people say that enjoying Chinese cuisine is an acquired taste, especially when it comes to the street food. Expect to see all sorts of animal parts and insects, cut up into little pieces and skewered on sticks – as snacks. Unique treats like fermented tofu and mung bean soup are also something for the more adventurous.

But what about other countries to explore for Asia Travel? Well, if you are the beach bunny type then you might want to check out the lovely beaches of Bali in Indonesia or the relaxing waters of Phuket in Thailand. Both are very budget-friendly Asia travel destinations by the way, from the accommodations down to the food, you will surely get more bang for your buck at these places.

For city slickers however, there is the lovely city of Singapore which is just beside the equally charming Malaysia where tourists can find the city of Kuala Lumpur. It is interesting to note that as neighbors, there are a lot of similarities between these two countries like the huge ferris wheel. As for hotels though, expect Singapore to offer higher rates – even for backpacker hostels. In order to make the most of the great shopping opportunities in both Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, schedule your trip starting from May to August wherein there are myriad of shopping sales available.

Of course, there are definitely a lot more places to explore while you are in Asia, like the tropical country of the Philippines and the ever-vibrant city of Tokyo in Japan, among others. While Asia is a continent which is fairly safe to travel to, do keep in mind that you should always be aware of your surroundings and take caution in whatever you do. Do not keep your money in just one place, make sure that you keep your passport in a secure place, and don’t just trust strangers – especially the ones who are very eager to take you someplace. Don’t forget to bring your credit card in case of emergencies, an updated guide book and map, as well as list of the local emergency numbers – just in case.

Southeast Asias Newest Nation East Timor

November 3, 2009 by admin

The Democratic Republic of Timor Leste, commonly known as East Timor, is an island nation in Southeast Asia, consisting of the eastern half of the island of Timor, the nearby islands of Atauro and Jaco, and Oecussi Ambeno.

A political exclave of East Timor situated on the western side of the island, surrounded by West Timor. Formerly controlled by neighbouring Indonesia, which annexed it as a province in 1975, East Timor broke away in 1999 and achieved full independence on May 20 2002. When East Timor joined the United Nations in 2002, it decided to be officially referred to by its Portuguese name, Timor Leste, as opposed to its English name.

It is one of only two majority Roman Catholic countries in Asia, the other being the Philippines.

The security situation in East Timor remains uncertain. Violent protests have taken place in Dili and UN troops are patrolling the streets. Travellers should exercise extreme caution, avoid any protests or demonstrations and heed any local advice regarding safety. The border with West Timor has been temporarily shut travellers should check news services before attempting to enter East Timor.

Southeast Asias newest nation East Timor. Independence has brought mixed fortunes to this recovering conflict zone and it remains a country in transition. But it has fine beaches, colonial towns, rugged mountains and a lush interior, with Dili a taste of Portugal in the tropics.

The countryside is magnificent. Houses made from bamboo and wood, with thatched palm rooves, dot the whole of East Timor. It is mountainous, surprisingly so, yet the toughness of the mountains give way to some of the most serene and picture perfect beaches you are ever likely to see. The water so clean and clear, show the pristine reefs available divers should be visiting in droves.

Go when the weather is best. East Timor doesnt yet have a tourist season, so theres no time of year when youre going to be overrun by crowds. So go during the May to November dry season when theres little rainfall and youre assured of good weather. By the end of the dry season, it can be rather dry and dusty. The December to April wet season can be very wet indeed, making travel difficult, particularly if you get off the main routes where unsealed roads can become impassable and unabridged rivers uncross able. The end of the wet season, however, is the time for festivals.

If you are used to constant electricity, plenty of accommodation and eating options, air conditioned coaches, having access to a can of coke when you need forget it. This to me is the appeal of this place, it is so untouched, so raw, if this appeals to you than be sure to visit soon.

Travel Tips For A Wise Traveler Like You

Traveling has always been one of the most fun-filled, exciting, entertaining and most of the time informative activity that you can totally enjoy by yourself or with your family and friends. With the help on the internet you can easily find travel agents online that can assist you in getting affordable discount air travels or any other budget travel promos and travel packages that their online travel agency offers.

It doesnt matter if you already have pre-arranged travel deals or just last minute travel arrangements because there are a lot of best travel websites to choose from that can accommodate your needs. As a traveler, you should also need to make preparations yourself and not purely rely on your travel agent. These are some basic travel tips for you to take into account to experience a hassle free travel and vacation.

As much as possible, plan your trip early. If youre traveling during holidays, it is best to look for online travel deals at least a couple of months before the season starts. This way you can even have a chance to book under discount travel promos which travel agencies usually offer in advance.

Another good tip is to maximize your budget. Make a list of your proposed budget in advance and try to follow your budget list at least up to the degree that you can. Make food your number priority followed by your lodging necessities. Take also into consideration the age bracket of your group. If youre going to travel with kids, their needs and safety should be on the top list of priorities.

Next of the travel tips you need to take into account is to familiarize yourself with your travel destinations. If you still dont have a place in mind you can easily choose from the top ten travel destinations online. If you and your company want to have a beach get-away then you might want to check websites about the famous and wonderful South Miami Beach or the magnificent coast of Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta Mexico. If your budget and time permits it, you can even try checking out the wonders of Asian beaches like the renowned Boracay in the Philippines. Ultimately, wherever you plan to go, you must have an overview of the place and its surroundings to avoid difficulties and disturbances.

Another important tip, and a very sound advice, is to take care of your belongings. You read this tip online, see the sign at every airport and subconsciously know that this is significant, however, with all the fuss there is during travel plus the excitement you feel, there will be moments that your belongings will slip into your mind. And this moment of yours becomes the shining time for thieves to take advantage and stole your possessions.

And aside from your budget list, make one checklist that enumerates everything you need to do and to accomplish before, during and after your vacation. You may be teased by your family and friends as having an obsessive-compulsive disorder but shrugged it off. Remember, being prepared is a lot better that being sorry.

And lastly, enjoy every minute of your travel preparation. It is as important as the actual vacation so take your time and have a blast.
